PHYSIOLOGIC EVALUATION

OVERVIEW

The Adult Pulmonary Function Laboratory provides comprehensive physiologic testing for the patient with known or suspected pulmonary disease. In addition to standard tests of pulmonary function the laboratory offers a number of more sophisticated specialized tests. Consultation with one of the faculty is available, to determine the best approach to evaluation of complex pulmonary problems.

OUR SERVICES

  • Pulmonary Function Screen
  • Spirometry
  • Arterial blood gases
  • Exercise study with arterial blood gases
  • Exercise-induced asthma protocol
  • Oxygen prescription test
  • Six-minute walk test
  • Altitude simulation
  • Bronchoprovocation (methacholine challenge)
  • Pre-operative evaluation (including transplant and lung-volume reduction surgery)
