Neeta Thakur, MD Testified on Adverse Human Health Effects of Climate Change to the House Oversight and Reform Committee
Neeta Thakur, MD testified on behalf of the American Thoracic Society this week before the House Oversight and Reform Committee regarding the adverse human health effects of climate change.
Dr. Thakur’s testimony focused on how climate change is already harming her patients, including the record-breaking extreme heat in San Francisco, persistent wildfire smoke across California, and climate-driven increase in pollen-exposure. Dr. Thakur was joined by economist Michael Greenstone and health researcher Drew Shindell, who both recently released research estimating the future health and economic damages from climate change in the U.S. Renee Salas, MD, MS, MPH, an emergency medical physician was also on hand to discuss climate change health effects in patients in Boston.
