Ventilation Expertise in Neuromuscular and Thoracic disease
Expertise in the management of respiratory muscle weakness (including disorders of the diaphragm) and thoracic cage disease. We manage noninvasive and invasive home mechanical ventilation, as well as other respiratory durable medical equipment, such as cough-assist devices, suction, nebulizers, oscillatory chest vests, and humidification. Experience with obtaining and interpreting remote data downloads to monitor ventilatory support and make adjustments to settings. In-person and telemedicine visits are offered, including coordinated visits with DME respiratory therapists when indicated.
- Non-invasive ventilation management including optimization of mask fit and device settings.
- Invasive Ventilation Support
- Prescriptions and training for management of secretions including for mechanical in-exsufflators (Cough Assist), high-frequency chest wall oscillation (vest), nebulizer and suction.
- Prescriptions for other supplies: tracheostomy tubes, masks, tubing for ventilators and other devices
- ALS clinics
- Adult muscular dystrophy multi-disciplinary clinic
- Respiratory therapists in the pulmonary clinics and above neurology clinics
- Otolaryngology for tracheostomy care
- Pediatric pulmonary for transitions to adult care
- Many DME companies in Northern California
